Task:
The iPad has become a valued partner for fast, concise information throughout the day, and for evenings on the sofa. Because stock market aficionados need to know what’s happening on the floor – around the clock and on every device – the Stuttgart stock exchange (Boerse Stuttgart) asked us to create a stock market app for the iPad.
Solution:
Both in terms of design and function, the iPad app is based on the Boerse Stuttgart website. The dashboard shows all of the securities traded in Stuttgart. The prices are displayed in real time. Along with personal watch lists and portfolios with limit monitoring, the user can also access a market overview, fact sheets and informational videos from Boerse Stuttgart TV. The key areas can be accessed permanently via a menu quicklink.
Special features:
A universal interface (REST API) was developed for the app, integrating the many features from various data providers. To do this, the existing interfaces had to be adapted for the mobile solution. The interactive, native-drawn charts were implemented so as to enable updating in real time. It’s also possible to set personalised, real-time price alarms (push notifications) for user-related watch lists and portfolios. As on the website, these notifications are available via a registration and login process. The HTTP video streaming of Boerse Stuttgart TV is iOS-optimised, flexible in bandwidth, and always available – because it’s not dependent on a server.
Result:
The complex relationships of the securities markets are clearly displayed and can be quickly grasped. Features like “one-tab trading” help traders take quick action when time is of the essence.
