Since 2013, we have been supporting our client Blum in app development – from conception through development to the support of multiple custom apps, always with the goal of creating sustainable mobile service solutions and setting new standards.

App "Easy Assembly"

Assembly, made easy

The Easy Assembly app provides carpenters and installers with comprehensive support for the proper assembly and processing of all Blum products and systems. The primary focus during app development was to give installers access to the most up-to-date assembly information at any time and in any location. Our solution: interactive modules, videos and detailed installation guides directly within the app allow professionals to apply the information on-site immediately.

Available for iOS and Android in over 30 markets and languages worldwide, the apps make a significant daily contribution to improving installation quality. In app development, the challenge was to find an elegant technical solution: intelligent caching and storage mechanisms ensure that content is always up to date while remaining instantly accessible in offline scenarios – with minimal storage requirements on end devices.

Realtime and personal

For particularly complex installation situations, a second mobile service solution called Live Support provides direct, person-assisted service – in real time. Available for iOS and Android in numerous markets, the app allows registered users to work through their specific challenges collaboratively with specialised Blum experts.

Here, our app developers focused on maximum usability: via text messages, annotatable photos and videos, and IP-based audio and video chats, even highly complex installation situations and fault patterns can be resolved interactively, quickly and precisely – in direct contact with Blum specialists.

Always connected

In addition to the two end-user apps, Blum’s support staff also work location-independently and always connected via a custom iPad app developed specifically for this use context. Sophisticated push notification mechanisms ensure that no message goes unread across any number of support cases on the mobile platform.

A key objective during app development was to seamlessly integrate the Easy Assembly and Live Support apps into the existing Blum system landscape. Both solutions are not only interconnected at client level but also share a wide range of existing backend systems and data. This ensures that up-to-date information is always available locally. Data captured within the apps also flows back directly into the relevant Blum systems – fully automated, of course.
